OUR REGION THE APOKORONAS
The APOKORONAS region is in the North West of our beautiful island of Crete and extends from the foothills of The White Mountains to the coast on the north.
The area is very green and fertile and is a rich agricultural region, with olive groves, vineyards and citrus groves and is probably the greenest part of Crete.
This is a region with many Cyprus trees and even some small forests.
There are breathtaking panoramic views everywhere you look the snow capped.Lefka Ori (the White Mountains); the panoramic views over Souda Bay, The Akrotiri Peninsula and Drapanos Mountain are all typical of our region.
There are blue flag beach resorts, small typical Greek villages, tavernas, large market towns, churches, old ruins and many areas to walk and explore.
Kornas lake just a few kilometers from Georgiou polis is the the only fresh water lake in Crete and a nature reserve, swimming and tavernas,
The beach resorts in the area Kalives. Almyrida and Georgiou polis are all blue flag and have all the amenities for great summer holidays. Fantastic beaches to enjoy the sun and lazy days relaxing.
The international airport on the Akrotiri has easy access and has regular flights to all countries.
The ferry boat port in Souda has daily car ferries to Piraeus port on the mainland.
A new modern hospital and a 24 hour health center all available to locals, tourist and ex pat alike,
There are modern cimemas, bowling ally and weekly markets in several towns .You can find Diving schools, Boat excursions, and even a glass blowing factory.
The whole region has many good, family run places to eat and experience Cretan food and hospitality.
